A top executive in the fashion industry becomes one of the top-producing brokers in the Hamptons. Nancy currently represents sellers, buyers and renters throughout the Hamptons, and along with her husband Michael Burns, have been recognized for their involvement in the Hamptons Designer Showhouse, which donates all proceeds to Southampton Hospital.
HRES: After many years in Real Estate, what has been your most memorable deal?
NM: There are always different personalities and unexpected events that make each transaction memorable. My first sale as a broker in the Hamptons was exciting as I sold a 6 million dollar house in East Hampton on Lily Pond Lane and the next door neighbor was the purchaser. I recently sold Billy Joel’s oceanfront home and as one of my favorite singer songwriters his sale is an accomplishment I will always remember.
HRES: What is the best advice you can give a second homebuyer when searching for a vacation home in the Hamptons?
NM: It’s never a bad time to buy a home in the Hamptons. Buy the best property in your price range, and work with a broker who knows the ins and outs of Hamptons real estate. Your agent should be prepared with comparable sales and pricing, be patient, determined, tireless and open minded. A good agent will connect you with lenders, attorneys, architects and contractors to help you navigate the process.
Above all your broker should be someone you like spending time with and of course someone you trust to advocate for your best interests.
HRES: Nancy, we are hearing that new construction is hot now. Can you tell us why?
NM: Buyers want the feel of a traditional Hamptons house, with all the modern amenities and conveniences of new construction. Buyers today want state of the art kitchens, great rooms for entertaining, all bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and gracious master bedrooms with walk closets and luxurious bathrooms. They want homes wired for the latest technology, finished basements with wine cellar, media room, home gym and outdoor entertaining areas with an oversized pool. New construction means you can have it all and move right in to enjoy the Hamptons life.
