Great Form – Haven Yoga

Fifteen years ago, Tracy Squillante rolled out her mat for the first time at Yoga Shanti in Sag Harbor. The practice became the counterpoint to her frenetic life as director of HAMPTONS Magazine and kept her grounded in the things that were important. It wasn’t long before Tracy noticed yoga studios changing. Once a hub for former ballerinas and models, they were becoming destinations for people of all body types. Women like her—fit, active, and curvy—had discovered the improved wellbeing
and mindfulness that yoga could bring.

As her love of yoga grew, the next step for Tracy was to become a certified instructor. She completed her first program at Yogamaya in Manhattan and decided to deepen her practice with an intensive teacher training in Costa Rica. While preparing for her month-long trip, she couldn’t find yoga wear that fit the needs of her practice or her form. “Why can’t the clothes we move in translate to our everyday lives?” she wondered. And so began Tracy’s journey to create a collection that helps women of all shapes and sizes look and feel great while they are in the yoga studio…and wherever else the day takes them. For over a decade, she had honed her creative and entrepreneurial skills working at jewelry company David Yurman, and she was ready to start a brand that reflected her own passions.

The result is HAVEN Collective, a selection of yoga wear that marries form and function. Having lived in Milan, Tracy has a deep appreciation for subtle, sophisticated design. In her pieces, refined luxury meets thoughtful fit, unobstructed movement, and purity of design—plus the support of shape wear. Tops are cut longer to stay in place, because tugging at your tee disconnects you from your practice. Waistbands are set higher to hug your waist to prevent drooping or pulling. And the perfect free-form jacket gets you to and from the studio in style. The fabrics are completely opaque and matte, and the palette of black, gray, navy, and dusty blue is quietly chic.

Haven fulfills Tracy’s lifestyle—comfortable and elegant enough to go from sun salutations to sunset in Sag Harbor. It also manifests her personal evolution. “After a career spent creating beautiful images, I thought I needed to change my outside,” she says. “Now I realize that what needed to change was inside me. Launching Haven allows me to celebrate both body and soul.”

The collection’s key pieces include pants in four silhouettes; four tops designed to flatter different shapes; two long-sleeve pullovers; and an effortless draped robe. The first group, “Italian Essentials,” is created from Italian eco-sustainable fabric and launches in October at Havencollectiveyoga.com.
