“Camp Jerome”

For Sale: Only Hamptons Home with Private Art Museum
By Debra Scott - August 13, 2017

The Quiogue home/museum of the late venture capitalist and patron of the arts, Jerome Stern, has hit for market for the first time in more than 50 years. Price tag: $23.45M.

With splendid views of Quantuck Bay, the 1902-built, Arts & Crafts main house has a 36-foot high addition, the better to display the collector’s massive collection.

There is also a 7,500-square-foot “art barn” to accommodate the balance of his many collected works. And while Stern and his wife, Ellen, seldom opened their doors to the public — with the exception of the occasional charity fundraiser — the property is host to four galleries.

The estate with its ten-bedroom and ten-bath house and two-bedroom, three-bath guest house, which rest on 16 acres surrounded by woods, is affectionately known as “Camp Jerome.” Tim Davis of Corcoran has the listing.
