HRES: Can you tell us a bit about your journey into the industry, and especially what it’s like working side by side with your daughters?
MK: Being a Hamptons homeowner for 35 years, I’ve always been interested in real estate. I referred many of my international friends to local brokers and realized this could be a great career for me. Working with both my daughters Paulina and Luisa has been a wonderful experience. They are both unique and have achieved remarkable success in the industry. As a mom, I couldn’t be prouder.

HRES: What are the most important qualities for being a successful real estate broker?
MK: The qualities needed to be a successful broker include having an in-depth knowledge of your market, understanding your clients’ needs, and building trust. It’s essential to stay updated with market trends and dynamics to provide the best advice and options to clients. Additionally, developing strong relationships with clients, understanding their preferences, and being transparent in your dealings are crucial. Building trust is the foundation of long-term success in real estate, as it ensures clients feel confident and secure in their decisions.

HRES: In your opinion, what are some of the current trends shaping the real estate market in the Hamptons?
MK: Currently, I am noticing significant health-related trends focused on longevity. Buyers and renters are increasingly seeking homes equipped with amenities that promote wellness, such as saunas, plunge pools, and well-equipped gyms. This shift reflects a growing awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. People want their homes to be more than just a place to live; they want them to be environments that actively support their well-being and health goals. As a result, properties that offer these features are becoming highly desirable in the market.

HRES: Can you share some strategies that you employ to market properties effectively and to build your brand?
MK: The power of the Douglas Elliman brand is internationally recognized which creates a worldwide network of brokers and PR strategies.

HRES: What do you enjoy most about being a broker, and what keeps you motivated every day?
MK: I still love looking at houses in all different areas and meeting new people. I am lucky to work in a market where people really tailor their homes to themselves, so we can always see something new and innovative. It also helps that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

HRES: If you could give your younger self just one piece of advice, what would it be?
MK: To love what you do. When you wake up each day excited about your work, it doesn’t feel like a job. Having a passion for what you do fuels creativity and dedication, making every challenge we encounter into an opportunity for success.

HRES: Can you share a few of your favorite dining spots in the area with our readers?
MK: During the summer season, we really love to entertain at home, sometimes we go to  our club in Southampton, otherwise we like to stay close to home spending time in the village at places like Tutto Il Giorno in their lovely garden.
