Freelance artist meets serial entrepreneur and the rest is history… Get to know Serena and Lily.
BEFORE SERENA & LILY:
S: I designed a line of fabrics and pillows that sold through interior designers and home boutiques
L: Microsoft Exec., Children’s Boutique Owner
JOB SATISFACTION:
S: I get to be creative every day. That I get to collaborate with people who share a similar vision. And that I get to travel the world to gather inspiration and partner with artists and artisans I admire.
L: I’m eternally inspired by what Serena and our design team dream up. The joke around the office is that I’m our biggest fan.
DESIGNER INSPIRATIONS:S: I’m ritualistic when it comes to the design process. I have to burn my favorite candle. I have to play music really loudly – I can’t have it too low or plug it into earphones. It just has to be that way for me to create.
L: Lots of pattern. Pops of color. Little twists. I love a fresh, timeless look. And with three boys, durability is key.
ADMIRATION:
S: My Grandmother was a talented painter and sculptor. My home is full of her work it’s a daily reminder to stay true to my own artistic vision in whatever form that takes.
L: Scott Neeson who founded the Cambodian Children’s Fund and Roxanne Joyal, a founding member of Free the Children.
BOOKING IT:
S: Just Kids by Patti Smith, World of Interiors magazines.
L: Biographies of amazing leaders. (I read them with my kids.)
SERENA ON LILY:
I love Lily’s clear-headed decisiveness. She knows exactly what she likes and is never afraid to say it. I trust her implicitly.
LILY ON SERENA:
Every time I walk into Serena’s studio, I’m reminded of why this business works. She’s a true artist.
