Anew darling of the Hamptons design and social scene, Colleen Bashaw incorporates her love of architecture, keen eye for color and passion for luxe living into creating sophisticated interiors for clients in Colorado, New York, Rhode Island and now, Sag Harbor. Bashaw is also the head of design for Cape Resorts, for whom she has completed The Virginia Hotel, The Sandpiper, The Star Inn, The Beach Shack, and most recently, a stunning redesign of The Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor. A nod to the nautical past and present of Sag Harbor is reflected in Bashaw’s white, gray, and blue color palette.
“It’s important to me to utilize as many local resources as possible into my designs, especially when a project is in a place with as much history as Sag Harbor. My favorite Hamptons resource was William at The Mill in Southampton. His sisal is amazing! I used him for carpet in the public spaces,” shares Colleen. “All the guest room furniture is custom – the room rag rugs are a striped in blues and greys, and the maps hanging on the walls are a reproduction of the original map hanging in the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. A few of my other favorite shops for sourcing unique accessories, accents, and outdoor spaces are Mecox Gardens, English Country Antiques, and MONC XIII. I love that the natural landscape of Sag Harbor is actually part of the design at Baron’s Cove. Blue skies and harbor-views fill the windows of the double-height living room in our Harbor Loft Suite. What better way to end the day by lingering over a glass of wine on your private deck overlooking a sunset on the marina?”
