Angela Boyer-Stump is a Global Real Estate Advisor, Licensed Salesperson with Sotheby’s International Realty, which represents extraordinary real estate and features some of the most exquisite luxury properties in the Hamptons. HRES got the chance to sit down with Angela for a brief Q&A.
What is the most challenging aspect of being a real estate agent for you?
The most challenging aspect is trying to keep buyers in the price point they wish to be in. Regardless of the amount a buyer hopes to spend when buying a home, the next level of purchasing always looks better. We have so many beautiful homes in the Hamptons, and each one offers something different. A buyer may start off with a small wish list, but inevitably, once they start looking, the list changes.
As one of the more seasoned real estate agents in the Hamptons, what is it that sets you apart from the others?
I pride myself on always trying to be accessible to my buyers and sellers. Many of my clients are only free after work to discuss real estate. In my opinion, to be successful in this industry, you need to be understanding of this and always make time for them. Buying and selling can be emotional so the last thing a client needs is to not be able to reach their agent.
Can you tell us about some of your more notable sales?
My favorite sales last year were the ones I sold on the water. From a striking Contemporary on Water’s Edge Road in East Hampton, to a Traditional home on the Shinnecock Bay in Southampton, the styles were vastly different but the salty air was magical. I sold almost 30 homes last year, and a third were on or near the water. This year I hope to make someone very happy by selling them my newest listing near the ocean on Hook Pond.
What is the most personally satisfying part of your work?
Real estate is a time consuming job, yet it is a job that I am very passionate about. There is true satisfaction and it is always great when a buyer or seller shares their appreciation of the time and energy you spend working to find them the perfect property. A smiling photograph of them lounging by their new pool or a picture of the living room they just decorated can be so rewarding. Knowing I have assisted in facilitating a transaction that makes people proud and happy is a great reward.
What do you like to do in the Hamptons…after selling real estate of course?
I feel fortunate to live in a multi-faceted area. The Hamptons have access to great apple and pumpkin picking in the fall, sledding and ice skating in the winter, and of course, my favorite summer past times are enjoying the many water sports available to us. I am Secretary of the a Southampton Yacht Club and on the Junior Sailing Committee as well. Being with my family on the water is the highlight of my summer.
