Designed by John Lautner in 1968 after a number of other noted architects said it was impossible, this oceanfront home is now a designated California Cultural Landmark as of 2010. In 1971, Lautner explained his material choices to Architectural Record stating “Given the effects of salt air and the resulting maintenance problems, concrete seemed to be the best material to use.” The two-story house has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, amazing views of both the ocean and the mountains, and an incredible pool with a concrete shell over it that resembles a wave, all of which are arranged on five separate levels, according to Kathleen Kinney of Stuff. The three-time Academy Award nominee will be adding this architectural masterpiece to his collection, which also includes a penthouse in Greenwich Village, and a 1920s Spanish style cottage in Los Angeles.
