Fans of interior design were able to enjoy the best of the best under one stylish roof for the Holiday House Hamptons in Bridgehampton. Top designers each decorated a room for the Summer 2023 Designer Showhouse which raised funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Southampton Ellen Hermanson Foundation. Founder and breast cancer survivor Iris Dankner was joined at the showhouse opening benefit by co-chairs Kenneth Alpert, Campion Platt, Andrea Stark and Ashley Stark. Philanthropist Jean Shafiroff served as the honorary chair for the evening.
The stunning modern property which is for sale through James Peyton of The Corcoran Group and Thomas Cavallo of Douglas Elliman Real Estate saw a beehive of activity as numerous designers imagined and executed their visions for each of their individual rooms and spaces including art. Think directing a three-ring circus with numerous ring masters all directing contractors and furniture deliveries at the same time. For designers they get to display their decorating talent and connect with current and potential future clients. Some like Cynthia Walker of CLW Design even commissioned custom pieces for her room, a chic bedroom with a custom bed and suede rug from Jim Zivic Design.
The event was presented by BJC Custom Home Builders, Corcoran and Douglas Elliman, and featured the talents of designers including Amy Storm & Company, Ashley Stark Home, Barbara Ostrom Associates, Bjorn Bjornsson Interior Design, Blake and Emily Interiors, Brianna Scott Interiors, Campion Platt, CLW Interiors, Collette Home, Elizabeth Dow Home, Elsa Soyars Interiors, Fish Row Designs, Gil Melott Studio, Kim Radovich Interiors, KRID Studio, Lola Tucker Interior Design, Melanie Roy Design, Mina Lisanin, New Age Interiors, Riki Wagh Design x Neil Kerman Artist, Siriano Interiors and Tamara Hubinsky Interiors.
When asked what the biggest challenge is in putting together the showhouse Dankner says, “The biggest challenge in putting together the showhouse is figuring out where to place each designer. I take a lot of pride in creating a cohesive showhouse year after year so I do a lot of research into the designers we select to figure out whose styles will work best near each other. As with all showhouses, our designers like to think outside the box and create rooms that are unique and unexpected. I love to let them express themselves creatively as long as there is a cohesive flow throughout the house. The best compliment is when visitors say the house is so livable, they could just move right in!”
And what is the greatest reward? Dankner comments, “The greatest reward is to see how much our organization grows with each passing year. When I first started out, I had to beg companies and designers to be involved and now they are knocking on my door. It is a dream come true to have created this event that combines my love of interior design and fundraising, and which has granted me the ability to donate over $2 million dollars towards breast cancer research over the last 15 years.”
