Realty Check – Hot Sales & Listings…

DON’T TOUCH THAT DIAL!

To everything, there is a season. And unfortunately for those who love “The Oldies Station” just the way it is, or was, the times, they are a changin’ for Sag Harbor’s 55-year-old WLNG.

The beloved radio station and its assets, previously owned by Main Street Broadcasting Company, sold for just under $4 million not so long ago, according to paperwork presented to the Federal Communications Commission on October 30. The good news is that, at least for now, it’s (community) business as usual at 92.1.

The new owner is Sandra Foschi, a Sag Harbor-based physical therapist and owner of Health SOS and Bark Out Loud Dogs Media. While she doesn’t have broadcast experience to speak of, her husband, ABC meteorologist Bill Evans sure does.

Word on the street is that Ms. Foschi and her weather-loving husband were so impressed with the station’s coverage of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, which continued to broadcast while the on-air personalities stood in ankle-deep water, that they decided to buy. With very few exceptions or outages, WLNG has been on the air since 1963.

OLD-SCHOOL ITALIAN SETS SAIL FOR DA BAYS

New York City-based restaurateur and film producer Vittorio Antonini just bought his own $1.799 million waterfront at 7 Nautilus Court on Shinnecock Bay in Hampton Bays. That property, listed with Joseph Savio and Enzo Morabito of Douglas Elliman, closed in early November for just over ask.

Vittorio is the owner, chef and wine director of the Greenwich Village Italian staple, La Lanterna di Vittorio, which opened in 1977. The MacDougal Street restaurant has earned the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine. Additionally, Vittorio has served as producer on the films “Small Talk: Love, Coffee and the Internet” (2016) and “Islam and the Future of Tolerance” (2018). The previous owner was yacht designer and architect Maria Capoferri.

KHALED’S REAL ESTATE ‘NO BRAINER’

Seeming to tie our first two tidbits together is the news that record producer and radio personality DJ Khaled has invested in a $3.75 million house for sale at 1071 North Sea Road in Southampton. The modern farmhouse new construction, listed with Matthew Breitenbach, Kevin Geddie and John Frangeskos of Compass, is set on a 3.17-acre flag lot and comes with six bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, five fireplaces, a heated Gunite pool and room for tennis.

As for Khaled, the award-winning producer—who has worked with Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Jay Z, Drake, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg—is also an author, actor and furniture line designer. The burgeoning real estate mogul is also the owner of Robbie Williams’s former home in Los Angeles and a $25.9 million estate in Miami. He is joined in this new opportunity by basketballer Luol Deng and Confluent Development.

A TALL ORDER

The house of former East Hampton renter and hoopster Kevin Durant just sold for $13.6 million. Repped by Patricia Wadzinski and Frank Newbold of Sotheby’s, the 189 Further Lane spread sits on 3.2 prime acres in the village. Previously owned by interior designer Scott Sanders and his partner, Peter Wilson, the five-bedroom house boasts an ocean-view deck, heated pool with cabana, and what looks to be a grass tennis court. The former Knicks player, record-breaking scorer and 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year rented it for $100,000 in 2016 before he packed his bags for California and signed on with the Golden State Warriors.

THE PUCK STOPS HERE

Hockey great and New York Rangers royalty Rod Gilbert and his wife, Judy, just scored a $2.4 million property at 148 Redwood Road in Sag Harbor Village. The 1,000-plus-square-foot house on Redwood Road has two bedrooms and two baths and sits on a cozy 0.3 of an acre. It looks to have water views of The Big Narrows and Payne’s Creek.

‘IMAGINE’ WORKING FOR JOHN LENNON

In other radio-type news, did you know that The Corcoran Group’s Arlene Reckson has a major background in broadcast? The veteran broker, who was recently mentioned in the new John Lennon book, “Imagine John Yoko,” is credited with coining the term “punk rock” and was the first woman National Director of Artists & Repertoire for the British record label ATV/Pye Records. The Amagansett resident was also a personal assistant to the former Beatle and his wife, Yoko Ono.

SAG HARBOR LANDMARK FOR SALE

The Captain John Hullbert House located within the heart of Sag Harbor Village National Register Historic District is on the market. Captain Hulbert is best known for heading up the third militia from Southampton to East Hampton to protect the colony and may have also designed the first American Flag. This beloved c.1760 landmark property has been meticulously restored and renovated to incorporate period detail with substantial updates to today’s modern lifestyles. Scott Strough, listing Broker at Compass said, “this home is an architectural masterpiece and no expense was spared on the construction and attention to detail.”
