Even though there are plenty of windmills all across the Hamptons, there’s only one in Montauk — and someone just bought it. The shingled windmill house listed for sale with a $1.9 million price tag in May 2018 and was asking $1.7 million when a contract was signed the day after New Year’s.
For some historical context, the house — located at 162 Fairview Avenue — was designed nearly a century ago in 1928 by architect Arthur B. Wood, who would later sell it to Montauk restaurateur Mary Gosman in the ’60s. It’s currently owned by a woman named Marion Dailey.
The 2,600-square-foot house needs some updates, but hopefully the new owners keep the character of this property alive if they choose to renovate. According to the listing, there are six bedrooms and four bathrooms, a stone fireplace, and vaulted ceilings in the living room.
Helen Stubbman from Corcoran Group Real Estate represented the sellers in the transaction.
