Hampton Habitués

Apparently the Hamptons are all about bromance this summer. First there was Sagaponack’s Jimmy Fallon and his bestie Justin Timberlake doing their best to promote East End tourism by tandem biking hither and yon during the Memorial Day weekend. Then repeat visitor Justin Bieber showed up with his buddy Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger (and Patrick’s girlfriend, model Abby Champion), to sip some rosé, hug a bunch of people, and charm the crowd on the outside deck at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack.

Considering that the strict filming rules that just got a lot tougher in East Hampton Town, it’s a good thing that “Montauk Chronicles” filmmaker Christopher Garetano got the film he needed in the can this past winter for his new History Channel special, “The Dark Files.” The new series, which inspired the Netflix mega-hit “Stranger Things,” will premiere on Sunday, July 23, and will conclude Garentano’s 10-year investigation into the “mysterious and macabre legends of the Camp Hero Air Force Base” in Montauk, according to the filmmaker.

Speaking of the spooky stuff — Kyle MacLachlan has got to be toasting to the success of the “Twin Peaks” reboot on Showtime, and is probably doing it with Blushing Bear rosé. Turns out that in addition to being a frequent summertime visitor, the man who plays Agent Dale Cooper in the David Lynch-directed iconic television series is also the owner of the his own wine label, Pursued by Bear, which also bottles Pursued by Bear cabernet sauvignon and Baby Bear syrah.

Filming commercially on private property without permits is now a no-no in East Hampton Town, thanks to Bravo’s “Summer House,” which caused all kinds of uproar when it premiered in January. The infamous show about sexy young singles partying it up on the East End drew so much flak locally that the Town passed a law to make sure that it wouldn’t be back. No fear for those who enjoy their guilty pleasure reality shows filmed in the Hamptons, however. Alas, “Summer House” merely picked up stakes and moved to Southampton Town. The show is now filming season two at a private five-acre estate in Water Mill.

Interestingly, the daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” which is set in the fictional town of Salem, Illinois, looks to be teasing its own South Fork pop-in. Right before Memorial Day weekend, the show’s head writer Ron Carlivati tweeted a cover of the New York Times Thursday Magazine featuring the headline “Hot in the Hamptons,” accompanied by the comments “Number 4: What’s happening on @nbcdays … #Days #July #ComingSoon #GirdYourLoins.” Fewer than two weeks later, he hit Twitter again with a post that said “I like to take things up to the line of what is legally allowed … and then steamroll over it. #days.” We’ve been warned.

Amagansett’s Bobby Flay has filmed his fair share of TV time—including “Bobby Flay’s BBQ Addiction,” “Beat Bobby Flay,” “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” and “Iron Chef America,” among others—but the grill master chef has managed to stay out of the heat, boob tube-wise, as far as South Fork viewers are concerned. Fresh off his headlining stint at Stony Brook Southampton’s Food Lab Conference, Flay has returned to the small screen for a fresh new thirteenth season of “Food Network Star” with co-host and East End restaurant aficionado Giada De Laurentiis. During this go-round, the culinary pair is judging a whole new batch of competitors and hosting a few other familiar Hamptons faces, including Anne Burrell, Guy Fieri, Sandra Lee and Andrew Zimmern.
