Good News Gossip About Our Notable Friends And Neighbors

Name Dropper
For those who love fashion and the East End, the Netflix limited series “Halston” is a must-see event, as the fingerprints of the Hamptons are all over it. The iconic designer, who was the first of the high-end line creators to branch out into everything from runway style to housewares, famously rented a home in Montauk from his bestie, Andy Warhol, which provides some gorgeous backdrop. The five-part series follows the trendsetting fashion guru, played by Ewan McGregor, through the excesses of the 1970s and ‘80s and the loss of his fashion empire.

Family Feud
A variety of East Hampton locales are set to be shown in greater detail to the outside world, courtesy HBO. The uber popular series “Succession” spent five days filming in and around town earlier this year. According to those in the know, scenes for the upcoming third season were shot at Kirk Park and Shadmoor State Park in Montauk and Beach Lane in Wainscott. The Emmy-winning Outstanding Drama Series follows the filthy rich Roy family, who control one of the largest media and entertainment conglomerates in the world. Season three of the show will feature all the regulars — Brian Cox as patriarch, Logan Roy; Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy; Sarah Snook as Siobhan “Shiv” Roy; Kieran Kulkin as Roman; and Alan Ruck as Connor Roy—and more. Joining in the action will be Alexander Skarsgård as a confrontational tech founder and CEO, Adrien Brody as a billionaire activist investor and Hope Davis as the daughter of Logan Roy’s longtime nemesis. Can’t wait for the fireworks that are sure to explode when this season starts streaming in the fall.

Positive Notes
East Hampton’s Itzhak Perlman, who has been bringing students out east to Shelter Island for decades for his Perlman Music Program, has been keeping himself busy, and us highly entertained, this past year vis his viral YouTube channel, which showcases his wit and wisdom, in addition to his virtuoso violin skills and his charming house out east. Now that it’s finally safer to travel again, the much-decorated performer (he’s earned 16 Grammy Awards, four Emmys, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a National Medal of Arts and Israel’s Genesis Prize) hit the road to play with the Houston Symphony, where he’s the Artistic Partner. Glad to see his bright light continuing to shine, wherever he may be.

Join the Club
Jon Bon Jovi
continues to do his part in giving back. Recently spotted on stage at The Clubhouse in East Hampton, the Bon Jovi front man and philanthropic superstar helped to raise even more funds for those in need by performing a short concert benefitting Meals on Wheels and Project Most. Hosted by Clubhouse owners Scott and Holly Rubenstein, the benefit raised $50,000, and will be aired publicly sometime soon. Cool.

Waste Not, Want Not
Robert Downey Jr.
and his Footprint Coalition are growing stronger by the minute, adding an Early Stage Fund, a new Downstream Channel on YouTube and a Foot Notes blog — all dedicated to increasing environmental awareness and activism. The versatile actor hosts a weekly online discussion called “Fridays With Footprint” about climate change and what we can do to protect the planet by reducing our carbon footprints. It’s really good stuff. Upcoming film projects include Downey reprising his role in a third Sherlock Holmes movie and in the sports comedy drama “All-Star Weekend,” starring Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Piven.

Truly Remarkable
We are beyond excited to see that Colson Whitehead’s “The Underground Railroad” has been turned into a cinematic adventure. Now streaming on Amazon as a limited series, the riveting Pulitzer Prize-winning novel chronicles former slave, Cora Randall, and her desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South. Starring Thuso Mbedu, Chase W. Dillon and Joel Edgerton, the series was directed by Academy Award-winner Barry Jenkins. An East End literary fixture, Whitehead has also earned the Kirkus Prize for Fiction and the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction. The New York Times Bestselling writer of “Sag Harbor” and “The Nickel Boys” has been a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal and the National Book Award. His next book, “Harlem Shuffle,” will hit bookshelves this coming September.
