Good News Gossip About Our Notable Friends And Neighbors
It’s shocking to realize that we are already in the throes of wrapping up another Hamptons summer. Where oh where did all the days go?
Life in the lap of luxury seems to have never been more appealing than this season by looking at the number of new faces at the glamorous fashion-brand fetes and liquor launches, as well as the usual attendees of all the expected benefit bashes and evergreen events. It’s nice to know that the East End still has pull with the powerful people.
From Gucci to governmental leadership, we’ve seen them all this year, including former First Lady, former Secretary of State and former New York Senator Hilary Clinton, who has a new docuseries coming out in September. The East End regular, and her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, are the hosts and stars of Gutsy, an eight-part documentary event that will screen on Apple TV+.
Based on The New York Times bestselling book, “The Book of Gutsy Women,” co-written by the Clintons, the series will feature a number of female trailblazers. Guests will include Dr. Jane Goodall, Gloria Steinem, Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn, Wanda Sykes, Kate Hudson, Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, and more. The series is set to debut on September 9. Get out the popcorn!
We’ve seen quite a bit of Jon Hamm out and about on the East End this summer. We’re also pretty psyched that he’ll be coming to our house — via On Demand, natch — in September, via Confess, Fletch.
Yes, that’s correct, the Mad Men dreamboat has taken over the title role, originated on screen by Chevy Chase, in the long-awaited next installment in the series.
This time, the reporter-turned-amateur-sleuth — originated in the 1974 mystery novel by Gregory McDonald — will need to clear his name after becoming the prime suspect in multiple murders. All the while trying to locate his fiancée’s priceless stolen art collection.
Can’t wait to see this (hopefully) madcap caper, which also stars Kyle McLaughlin and Marcia Gay Harden, as well as Hamm’s former Mad Men co-star John Slattery and his real-life girlfriend, Anna Osceola. It screens On Demand starting September 16 and then premieres on Showtime on October 28.
We’re also pretty excited to see Amagansett’s Neil Patrick Harris again on our home screens. The versatile actor stars in the new Netflix series Uncoupled, now available to stream on Netflix.
The show, which is about a man whose life is turned upside down after his partner of 17 years walks out on him, was created by Darren Star. It also stars Emerson Brooks, Tisha Campbell, Marcia Gay Harden (go girl!), Ajay Naidu, Tuc Watkins and Brooks Ashmanskus. Yes! More please!!
Let’s give some serious props to Sag Harbor resident and our favorite first-basemen, Keith Hernandez, who was recently honored by the Mets, which officially retired his Number 17 jersey.
The orange and blue uniform shirt of the now popular Mets broadcaster proudly hangs at Citi Field, alongside those of other Hall of Fame players, including Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza, and former managers Casey Stengel and Gil Hodges. Hernandez, who spent seven of his 17 Major League seasons with the Mets — from 1983 to 1989 — batted third for the 1986 World Series champs and then later became the first captain in club history. He won a whopping 11 Gold Gloves and was elected to the Mets Hall of Fame in 1997.
Before we go, let’s take a moment to share some of the other fashionable notables who’ve been spotted out East in the past few months: Spike Lee, Natasha Lyonne, Sophia Bush, and Mark Ronson, who all came out for the Gucci opening in East Hampton. Then there was Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, coming out for Casamigos in Sag Harbor; Bella Hadid, who was promoting her non-alcoholic brand Kin Euphorics in Montauk; and Mariah Carey, who rented a home in Water Mill for a few weeks. Whew! That’s a lotta famous faces!!
