The 10th Annual Montauk Music Festival

The Montauk Music Festival (MMF) is a volunteer-run, grassroots live music event designed to celebrate, support, and promote the thriving Montauk music scene. MMF is a 4-day long showcase of musicians performing original music including rock, pop, Americana alternative, reggae, blues, jazz, flamenco, and country. All 400 shows are free, featuring 100 bands performing at over 40 different venues in Montauk, including 2 days on an open-air stage at the Montauk Lighthouse. Some returning musicians include Randy Jackson, The Montauk Project, Kate Usher & The Sturdy Souls, Carrie and The Cats, Jonathan Fritz, Tuatha Dea, Alexandra Starr and the Days of Wild. Salon Series: Boyd Meets Girl

May 17, 6 pm

Salon Series, the Parrish Art Museum’s concert program featuring world-class artists performing in an intimate, casual setting, presents classical guitar and cello duo, Boyd Meets Girl. Boyd Meets Girl pairs Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd with American cellist Laura Metcalf. The duo performs an eclectic and engaging range of repertoire, from the baroque through modern day, including many of their own arrangements.

WORLD PREMIERE OF THE PROMPTER

A legendary diva who forgets her lines and the non-famous, sometimes actor paid to remember them. THE PROMPTER is a new comedy about veteran actress Irene Young, who, after a forty-year absence, is returning to the Broadway stage. But now, she can’t do it alone; so, the production hires a young actor to be her prompter. But, this isn’t her story, it’s his. GREAT ART ON SCREEN

Klimt & Schiele: Eros and Psyche, recounts the start of the Vienna Secession, a magical art movement formed in the late 1890’s for art, literature and music, in which new ideas are circulated, Freud discovers the drives of the psyche, and women begin to claim their independence. At the heart of Secession were artists Gustav Klimt and his protégé and dear friend Egon Schiele. This exhibition features the eroticism of Klimt’s mosaic-like works, to the anguished and raw work of the young Schiele in his magnetic nudes and contorted figures against the backdrop of nocturnal Vienna, full of masked balls and dreams imbued with sexuality. JOBS PUB: Bossa Nova Music Night with Nilson Matta

June 1, 7 pm

Nilson Matta returns to SAC with his quintet and a very special vocalist for a night of Bossa Nova. Matta is a pioneer in the art of playing Brazilian Jazz on acoustic bass. Matta will be accompanied by Oriente Lopez on piano and Mauricio Zottarelli on drums. The Trio will perform Nilson’s originals mixed with Brazilian song book standards. It will literally take the audience on an exciting Brazilian Voyage!

Mountain Man

Mountain Man is a folk trio comprised of Molly Sarlé, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig and Amelia Meath.
