Hedge Funder Ken Griffin Is Going to Buy Calvin Klein’s Meadow Lane Property

Ken Griffin — a hedge fund manager and notable billionaire — is about to buy the Southampton property on Meadow Lane of fashion designer Calvin Klein, reports the Wall Street Journal. Klein purchased the 7-acre oceanfront spread in 2003 for $28.9 million from Francesco Galesi. The property wasn’t available for sale, so the actual price that Griffin paid is unknown, but an interviewee from the original WSJ report estimates that the oceanfront estate “could be worth as much as $100 million.” Griffin has a sprawling real estate portfolio, including the penthouse apartment in 220 Central Park South, which was the most expensive home ever purchased in the US for $238 million. He also has property in London, Chicago, Miami, and Palm Beach. The home on the Meadow Lane property has been referred to as Dragon Head. Previous owners include the du Pont family and Jane Holzer. Shelter Island’s Ram’s Head Inn Drops Asking Price to Under $9M

The famous Ram’s Head Inn on Shelter Island has dropped its price — after its most recent change, the 4.3-acre waterfront commercial property is now asking just under $9 million. The property originally came on the market three years ago in January 2017 for $11,995,000 before the listing was removed about nine months later. Then, in February 2018, the inn went up for sale at $9.75 million. Built in 1929, the 12,000-square-foot Colonial manor is home to a ballroom with coffered ceilings, multiple gas and wood-burning fireplaces, a sunroom, a commercial kitchen, a partially finished lower level, and 22 guest rooms of which four are two-bedroom suites and five have ensuite bathrooms. According to the Douglas Elliman listing, the property can be transformed into a residential estate, a restaurant, or a wedding venue. Features include 800 feet of water frontage, specimen trees, a tennis court, a deep water dock, and eight moorings. Douglas Elliman agent Enzo Morabito represents the listing. [Douglas Elliman]

Hamptons Real Estate Blogger Lists Montauk Home For $3M

Laura Euler — a popular Hamptons real estate blogger whose family has lived in Montauk for generations — has just listed her shingled beach house for $2,895,000. The home has been dubbed “the ultimate beach house” by MR Porter, was the subject of multiple One Kings Lane photoshoots, and was featured in Domino magazine, where it was called the “ultimate beach getaway.” Originally built in the 1930s and renovated in 2011, Euler’s shingled oceanview cottage spans a comfortable 2,400 square feet in size with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. In the back of the quarter-acre property sits a two-bed, one-bath guest house. The writer’s great-grandmother came to Montauk back in 1910 — this home at 689 Old Montauk Highway is just two doors down from her grandmother’s childhood home, where Euler spent summers picking blackberries and surfing at Ditch Plains.
