Feng Shui Energy

When Feng Shui comes up in conversation, there’s a familiar assumption that it’s a “move your furniture, change your life” practice. And while there is a zest of truth here, there’s a more comprehensive way to consider this ancient wisdom in today’s modern world.

Red Blooms are believed to herald a prosperous year your way.

Suppose you have a plant that is struggling – maybe its leaves are yellowing or spotting. Most of us tend to ask if it needs less water, more sunlight, or perhaps fertilizer. We get curious and intentionally look for opportunities to optimize its environment so the plant thrives.

Turns out, we are just as influenced for success by our environments, too.

Feng Shui is a wisdom that interprets energy (and its patterns) in our surroundings so that we can “arrange” those influences to support and optimize our well-being.

On that note – and with the holiday season in the air – if you’re looking for a little inspiration for improving your home, here are a few possibilities swirling that we can pull with us into the new year so we are planted for success!

TIP ONE: A home that gets noticed is a home-magnetizing opportunities to it. During the winter season, houses are often decked with fresh greenery and lights, making them showstoppers. In the new year, prioritize keeping the front of your home inviting with bright lights and healthy greenery. When the front of the home gives off a good first impression, it entices auspicious luck right to the front door.

TIP TWO: One of the holiday’s signature colors is red – a hue that is associated with good fortune, prosperity and happiness in Feng Shui. As you shimmy into next year, keep that luck percolating by punctuating your space with the color red. To get started, buy some red blooms for New Year’s Day – this is believed to herald a prosperous year your way!

TIP THREE:A favorite seasonal delight is unpacking the holiday décor and dressing the house in “something new.” New ways of seeing things come from seeing things in a new way, so it’s no surprise we feel an infusion of hope and inspiration twinkling around us after we’ve decked the halls.

Oranges represent good fortune

The good news is this tip doesn’t have an expiration date, so as you pack the festive decor back up, find ways to “see” what it is you want to experience this next year. Keep it simple by placing something that triggers your enthusiasm in every room – and pair that item with your intentions for the new year. Metaphorical reminders keep us conversing with our goals, which accelerates their fruition!

TIP FOUR: Speaking of metaphors, fresh fruit is a common gift during the holidays – and a Feng Shui favorite is the orange. This juicy fruit represents good fortune, luck and prosperity – a “sweet life” trinity. Put a bowl of 9 oranges out before the new year rings in, so that you’re inviting all that wealth into 2024. Feel free to keep this ritual in circulation all year long!

TIP FIVE: Before the seasonal glitterati concludes, give yourself and your home something “lucky” to welcome in the new year. This tip has a couple requirements: (1) This new “gift” must be noticeable enough that it visibly changes the energy of the room it resides within. (2) This suggestion also requires that your gift be accompanied by releasing something else. This will kickstart the year in your home with dynamic fresh energy; and if observed every year, it will become a reliable ritual for rejuvenating your space annually.
