Broker Showcase – Mary Slattery

slide3HRES: How did you get your start in Real Estate?
Mary Slattery: I started in Real Estate in 2006 after a career in fundraising and development on the East End. My circle of friends kept suggesting that I try my hand in Hamptons real estate and I finally took the plunge. Tim Davis (then a co-owner of Allan M. Schneider & Associates) took me on as a newly licensed agent and I will be forever grateful to him for his guidance.

HRES: What’s selling right now?
MS: It seems that everything is selling! Land is very hot and new construction between 3 million and 5 million has really popped. I was the listing agent for Bishops Pond Southampton Village and we could never have envisioned the pent up demand for upscale condos in the Hamptons. Bishops Pond is a major success and I am very proud to have been part of that experience.

HRES: Tell us about you…Favorite food, movie & song of all time?
MS: I have so many favorite movies but if I had to pick one it would be “All the President’s Men”. Sometimes reality is far more interesting than fiction. That time in our country still holds a fascination for me as I was a college student during those years. I also love the movie “Shampoo.” Funny and smart. I grew up with a father in radio and TV and we were exposed to the arts from a very young age. I love all types of music from Broadway show tunes to rap! I have seen Fleetwood Mac in concert three times in the last year and a half and ALL women are Stevie Nicks when “Gypsy” or “Landslide” play on the radio.

HRES: Bragging rights. Tell us about one of your current listings?
MS: Currently, I have listed a gorgeous 7,000 square foot Traditional at 393 Lumber Lane in Bridgehampton. The house is spacious yet comfortable with fully finished lower level and heated gunite pool. The grounds are impeccable and the location can’t be beat.

HRES: If you could have one super human power, what would it be?
MS:
Selling real estate in the Hamptons requires super human patience. If I have any super human power, I think I have developed an ability to stay with the process of identifying the right property for a renter or buyer. Or staying the course on a listing and finding the right buyer for that property. I cannot tell you how many times a deal has come together for me in the 11th hour. I do not give up easily and that to me is a newly acquired skill. “Don’t quit before the miracle” is a favorite mantra of mine.

HRES:What is your favorite Hamptons spring activity?
MS: I love to be a passenger on one of my husband’s Harley Davidson motorcycles and head east to Montauk. I spend 90% of my day in a car looking at real estate but when I am on that Harley as a passenger I can just relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us in the Hamptons. It is a wonderful way for me to reconnect to the beauty and serenity that brought me to the East End from Manhattan 14 years ago. It is on those rides that I remember how blessed I am to live and work in the Hamptons.
