Hugh Jackman’s East Hampton Home for Rent

Hugh “Wolverine” Jackman, plus his wife and family, will be spending the next months, including the summer, filming “Deadpool 3” in Vancouver. Therefore, they won’t be needing their stunning modernist compound in East Hampton, right on Gardiner’s Bay with a private sandy beach, and have decided to let some other well-to-do person or family use it, for a substantial fee, of course.

The Jackmans’ loss is someone else’s gain this summer, assuming that someone can pony up the $500,000 required for a Memorial Day to Labor Day rental.

Jackman and his wife, former actress and producer Deborra-Lee Furness, spent about $7.5 million to purchase two homes on two adjacent waterfront plots of land back in 2015. The homes were razed and well-regarded modernist architect Stelle Lomont Rouhani was brought in to design a pair of replacement residences, one larger than the other. On 2.5 acres, the compound includes a total of five bedrooms and five and a half baths. Both dwellings are beautiful in a simple and modern less-is-more manner. They’re set high on the bluff over the bay to maximize the views and every high-end amenity was included.

With three ensuite bedrooms, the minimalist main house boasts a gourmet kitchen fitted with Gaggenau appliances. An informal dining area features a hand-carved solid bleached walnut dining table, custom crafted by Field & Co., and floor-to-ceiling glass doors let the light and views soak in.

The two-bedroom guest house features an open living space complete with a high-end kitchen, a step-down living room with lounge-style seating, and a lofted area for sleeping and lounging. One of the bedrooms overlooks the pool and spa and includes a spectacular 180-degree vista of the bay.

The peace and quiet of the area, along with the calm bay waters, have attracted numerous other serenity-seeking high-profile people over the years; while Puff Daddy Diddy, or whatever he calls himself nowadays, hasn’t been seen in the area lately, his all-white abode is just down the road, as is that of legendary fashion designer Donna Karan.

Currently singing and dancing in the Broadway revival of “The Music Man,” Jackman has been making some notable real estate deals in Manhattan lately, too. Last summer he hung a $38.9 million price on his spectacular triplex in the West Village — it remains for sale at the same price — and in the fall he plunked down more than $21 million for a four-bedroom penthouse in West Chelsea.

The listing is held as a co-exclusive with Susan Breitenbach of the Corcoran Group, and Paul Brennan and Martha Gundersen of Douglas Elliman.
