Ivan Kaufman, the CEO and president of real estate lender Arbor Realty Trust, has just purchased the famed Three Ponds Farm in Bridgehampton for $35 million, reports the New York Post. The property, which includes a private USGA-rated 18-hole golf course, was once available for sale with an asking price of $75 million back in 2003, but was more recently listed for $49 million with Bespoke Real Estate.
Kaufman paid less than half of the original asking price.
Sited on nearly 60 acres of land, the property — which was designed by golf course architect Rees Jones — can be subdivided with about 30 useable acres, and we’re thinking that’s probably what will end up happening. Bespoke already drew up some plans as a starting point.
However, if Kaufman wants to keep the property as is, he’ll have a 25,000-square-foot main house with eight bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms designed by Allan Greenberg, four shared greens and fairways, a restored milking barn that serves as a halfway house, a full pro shop, a staff suite, and a service building that was built when Three Ponds was a working dairy farm.
