Welcome Summer 2022!

Somehow it seemed like this winter would never end – especially with spring getting such a late and cold start. It’s only a couple of short weeks until Memorial Day weekend and the kick-off of the Hamptons season! And there’s so much more to do than just head to any one of the East End’s fabulous beaches. Take in any of these fun activities over the Memorial Day weekend:

Memorial Day Parades & Services

Amidst all the fun which makes Memorial Day Weekend so special, one can overlook the solemn reason we celebrate this holiday. Take a moment to honor the fallen – pay tribute at any of the numerous parades in and around the East End. Sag Harbor, East Hampton and Southampton all host parades on the morning of Memorial Day, May 30.

Art Show & Festivals

Excellent art shows and festivals abound over the first few weeks of summer. The Montauk Artists Association Annual Memorial Weekend Show takes place on the Montauk Village Green the first weekend of June featuring the work of local artists and artisans. The East End Arts Council hosts the 26th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival along the Peconic Riverfront in downtown Riverhead. This festival features street painting in chalk – anyone over the age of 14 can participate on a first come first serve basis! A true street fair, the festival also offers works of fine arts for purchase, arts & crafts, food, live music and children’s activities. Admission is free. The Southampton Artists Association Memorial Day Art Exhibit and Sale will take place at the Levitas Center for the Arts at the Southampton Cultural Center (located across from Agawam Park) from May 25 through June 5. The Exhibit features artists from the East End – from Remsenburg to Montauk on the South Fork and from Calverton to Orient Point on the North Fork. The Opening Reception will take place on Sunday, May 29 from 4-6pm. Head to the Great Lawn across from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westhampton Beach for the annual Fine Art Festival on Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29 starting at 10am. Wander down Main Street to the Village Green to browse the offerings at the 33rd Annual Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce Maggie Burbank Arts & Crafts Show. Admission to both shows is free.
