Historic Southampton home from 1887 wants $22.5M

Local history buffs may also recognize the name of the architect who originally designed the home for himself, Robert Henderson Robertson. Robertson famously designed the first Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton village, which is currently host to interior design store One Kings Lane.

Recent renovations include lifting the house to replace the foundation, restoring the original wood, and adding a wine cellar and home theater to the finished lower level. According to the Wall Street Journal, Bessent spent nearly as much renovating the house as he did on the property itself, which would be close to a total of $20 million.

The 7,550-square-foot Queen Anne-style home has 10 bedrooms, 11 full baths, arched verandas, period details from the original construction, and a heated gunite pool outside.
