In East Hampton, the Henry D. Hedges House Asks $8.5M

The century-old Henry D. Hedges house in East Hampton at 29 Huntting Lane has just returned to the market for $8.5 million — which is the lowest price that its current owners have listed it for since they bought it in 2007.

Twelve years ago the 1903 shingled house was purchased for $4.35 million and then just over a year later it as back up for sale for $12 million. That price has dwindled since. According to Behind the Hedges, Henry Denison Hedges was “one of the leading agriculturists of Suffolk County” of his time in the late 1800s.

Features of the 7,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom home include a wraparound porch, a carved staircase, six working fireplaces, an eat-in kitchen, elevator, and a sun porch off the master suite. The house even has a grandfathered third floor which wouldn’t be allowed to be built today.

French doors lead outside, where there’s a pool, barn, and pool house with a full bathroom.

Sotheby’s International Realty agents Laura Molinari and Frank Newbold represent the listing.
