Kennedy Estate on the Market in Bridgehampton

A Hamptons estate owned by Jean Kennedy Smith, 90, the longest surviving sibling of president John F. Kennedy, has just hit the market for $35 million, according to the New York Post. The estate is actually two separate parcels at 363 and 351 Sagaponack Road in Bridgehampton — a waterfront property asking $20 million, and a cottage with a pool asking $15 million.

Built in 1850, the main house is 6,000 square feet and comes with nine bedrooms and six bathrooms — on 4.9 acres. The property features a dock, a pool, a tennis court and lots of patios and gardens. The cottage is a 2,850-square-foot ranch home with four bedrooms. This property also has a pool and sits on 5.27 acres. The size of both homes can be increased to 10,000 square feet each, the listing notes.

Smith, a former diplomat who served as the US ambassador to Ireland from 1993 to 1998, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama for her work with people with disabilities.

Although Hyannis, Massachusetts, is where the famed Kennedy compound is, there is plenty of Kennedy history in the Hamptons. Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ childhood estate, named Lasata — a Native American word for “place of peace” — recently sold in two separate parcels for $11.25 million and $24 million. (That seller was fashion designer Reed Krakoff, who had formerly rented Lasata to Russian oligarch and Putin pal Roman Abramovich in 2016.)

Grey Gardens, the home where Onassis’ spinster aunt and cousin — Big Edie and Little Edie Beale– sold for $15.5 million last year.

The listing broker of the Smith estate is Michael Schultz, of Corcoran, who also recently sold Grey Gardens.
