Further Lane sale is Biggest in the Hamptons since 2016

The seller, Ellen Marcus, widow of late Goldman Sachs partner, James Marcus, told co-listing agent Frank Newbold of Sotheby’s that the abode was “too much house” for her, according to the Wall Street Journal. Her husband died in 2015 at age 85.

Built in 1995, the estate boasts six waterfront acres, 300 feet of ocean frontage and a rooftop deck to take advantage of the spectacular views, according to WSJ.

The Francis Fleetwood-designed home was put on the market in 2016 for $69 million, so it suffered quite a discount. Newbold told the Journal “he hopes the sale signals a reawakening of the Hamptons luxury market, which has been sluggish over the past year.”
