Designer SHOWHOUSE
The 2017 Hampton Designer Showhouse opened in July with a Gala Preview Cocktail Party with over 400 supporters. The “showcase for America’s premier design talent,” which closes September 4, takes place in two magnificent Hampton homes generously provided by Paramount Custom Homes. Traditional Home magazine is the Presenting Sponsor while Saunders & Associates is the Exclusive Real Estate Sponsor. Now in its 17th year, the show features over 30 top interior designers and decorative artists from the Hamptons, New York City and nationwide. Some local businesses include Ciuffo Cabinetry, Libby Langdon Interiors and English Country Home.

Wimbledon Out East
The former Water Mill home of legendary agent Ed Victor, who died in June, is on the market for $3.49 million. The property is comprised of two 17th-century English barns with “sky-high” casement windows inspired by British architect Edwin Lutyens, according to the listing. The 25-foot-tall great room features stucco walls, black oak beams, aged brick and 15-foot-tall French doors. The property on Little Noyac Path includes a master suite with sitting area and fireplace, tennis courts with a viewing pavilion (Think: Wimbledon), putting green and dining pergola. The dashing agent, who handled such talents as Iris Murdoch and Candice Bergen, was named commander of the Order of the British Empire last year. The listing agent is Korine M. House & Garden
The Thomas Moran Trust held a garden party in August on the historic grounds of the Thomas Moran and Mary Nimmo Moran Studio on Main Street in East Hampton Village. A devoted group has worked tirelessly to breathe new life into the legendary artist’s studio and surrounding grounds. The benefit celebrated the final phase of the restoration project. Attendees included Edwina von Gal, Susan Wood Richardson and Eleanora Kennedy. The board of trustees includes such local preservationists as Frank Newbold of Sotheby’s. A new border garden, harking back to its former late 19th-century glory, was unveiled. In its heyday The Studio was known as a center of the turn-of-the-19th-century art colony. Ch Ch Changes
With 17 years of experience in the Hamptons real estate market under his belt, Patrick McLaughlin has left Douglas Elliman to join the East Hampton office of Sotheby’s International Realty. A former TV producer, Patrick worked at networks including MTV, CNBC, PBS-WNET and Fox News.
Also joining the East Hampton office of Sotheby’s is the Baris Team, comprised of Richard, Nola and Heather Baris. With professional backgrounds in education, business and graphic design, each team member brings a different skill set to the table.
Joseph Salvi has joined The Corcoran Group as Senior Managing Director of the Southampton office. Joseph has spent the last 26 years as a practicing real estate attorney in Southampton, having represented buyers, sellers and lenders in both commercial and residential transactions throughout the region, and has worked as a successful litigator. Joseph is a graduate of Fordham University and St. John’s University School of Law.

Architecture Junkies Take Note

The tome’s scope goes beyond the usual billionaires’ mansions to illustrate the South Fork’s diverse residences, from oceanfront shingle-style estates to rustic farmhouses and converted barns. You’ll want to put this book on the top of your coffee table pile.

Home Equity
The Bridgehampton home of late Emmy-Award winner Elinor Bunin Munroe, who designed the title credits for such films as The Producers, is on the market for $19.5 million. The graphic designer opened the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center in New York in 2011. Built in 1957, the two-bedroom Ocean Road cottage is relatively small though it sits on 4.2 acres with more than 700 feet of frontage on Sagg Pond. With its strange circular rooms and other dated features, the structure is most likely a tear down. Listed with agent Linda Nasta of Corcoran Group Real Estate.

Celebrating Three Centuries
A circa-1700 Bridgehampton home built by Edward Everett Quimby, a patent lawyer who also sold lightning rods, is on the market for $12.5 million. Quimby bought up so much land between what is now Ocean Road and Sagg Pond – 32 acres – that the street was eventually named after him. The seven-bedroom, 5.5-bath home, which has been added to over the years, features screened and covered porches, a master suite with a sitting room and a third floor that would not be permitted today. Once called Palmer Cottage, the quaint abode sits on 2.3 acres with access to Sagg Pond. Drew Green of Saunders & Associates is the listing agent.

Moving On
Celebrity chef and cookbook author Rachael Ray has put her Tuckahoe compound on the market for $4.9M. The Emmy winning star purchased the wooded 6.2-acre property, which comprises two parcels and shares a long border with the Southampton Golf Club, with her attorney/musician husband John Cusimano in 2008 for $2.6M. The main house is filled with pieces from Ray’s own home furnishings line. The custom designed kitchen features dual beverage-cooling drawers and an industrial stove. A 1,400 square-foot poolside guesthouse also has its own kitchen. The couple is decamping the Hamptons for an upstate residence on 200 acres near Lake Luzerne.
