Hamptons Habitués

Sending out hearty hellos, and a couple of hurrahs too, to East Hampton’s newest neighbor, Neil Patrick Harris.

Now that he’s got a South Fork getaway, the talented thespian, author, activist and sometime magician has the perfect weekend crash pad for use in between performances of his newest New York production, “In & Of Itself. ” The show, which he executive produces, is about the art of conjuring and stages at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Manhattan through June 18. Coming up, the Emmy Award-winning actor stars in the Alexander Payne comedy “Downsizing,” opening at the end of the year, and which just happens to also star Amagansett’s own Alec Baldwin.

Congratulations to another beloved Amagansett resident, Sarah Jessica Parker, who is on a bit of a fashionable roll of late. Known and loved the world over for playing serial sartorial trendsetter Carrie Bradshaw on “Sex and the City,” the actress has scored yet another haute role—narrator of the c 125th anniversary video series. The “five-point” series, segmented by decade, covers the fashion gamut from the mag’s first issue date in 1892 to the swingin’ 1960s. Ms. Parker, who has her own SJP Collection footwear line at Nordstrom, is currently starring in her second HBO hit series, “Divorce,” with Thomas Haden Church.

Leading lady Jennifer Lopez is one busy bee with plenty to celebrate of late as well. The Water Mill resident, most recently attached at the hip and jet-setting all over the place with former Yankee’s slugger Alex Rodriguez, recently got the green light for a third season of NBC’s “Shades of Blue,” of which she stars (with Ray Liotta and Drea de Matteo) and executive produces. The “Jenny from the Block” singer and once-upon-a-time Fly Girl is also slated to serve as EP and judge on the NBC reality dance competition show, “World of Dance,” set to premiere in May, and also star in the network’s upcoming live modernized production of “Bye Bye Birdie” at the end of the year. With all that activity, it’s no wonder she’s got such a healthy bottom line.

Tracy Anderson, who just happens to have worked with J. Lo, among other crazy-famous East Enders (think Gwyneth, Madonna and Christy Turlington) is also in continuous motion. The super-fit Sag Harbor resident—who has eponymous Method studios in Water Mill, East Hampton, Manhattan, Los Angeles, London and Dallas—just opened her newest, a flagship Manhattan studio on 59th Street, in March. The professional exerciser and trainer-to-the-stars also has her own lines of organic Tracy Anderson Ultimate Clear Bars, fitness DVDS, fashion lines, and even flooring.

Speaking of prolific achievers, hats off to Sag Harbor-based author Tom Clavin, whose recently published “Dodge City” has become an instant New York Times Bestseller. The non-fiction novel, Clavin’s eighteenth, tells the backstory behind the “wickedest town in the West” and its most colorful denizens, including Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, plus Wild Bill Hickok, Jesse James, Doc Holliday, Buffalo Bill Cody, Billy the Kid and Theodore Roosevelt. The solo effort is the fourth book of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer to hit the vaunted list—the other three have been “The Heart of Everything That Is,” “The Last Stand of Fox Company,” and “Halsey’s Typhoon,” which were co-written with Bob Drury.

And lastly, those who dream of living the Hamptons life can now do it even when they’re not at the beach, thanks to Jennifer Mabley and Austin Handler. The Water Mill-based designing duo, known as Mabley Handler Interior Design, are launching their 35-piece licensed furniture collection for Kravet this month. Featuring East End-inspired furnishings, the “coastal sophistication”-themed pieces, soon to be gracing interiors all across the land, are named after notable Hamptons’ landmarks, such as Flying Point, Hayground and Lily Pond.
