Hampton Habitués

Good News Gossip About Our Notable Friends And Neighbors

While summer might technically be the hottest season in the Hamptons, this fall looks to be on full blast for our favorite Hamptons Habitués.

Not Terrible Twos
Amagansett’s Sarah Jessica Parker has a couple of projects on the front burner, notably the Halloween reprise, Hocus Pocus 2, and a second season of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That

Hocus Pocus 2 is a follow-up to the 29-year-old movie, Hocus Pocus, which starred SJP, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy. The Disney+ sequel, which is currently streaming, also stars the same three main ladies. This one picks up the tale of the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters who return to their old haunts. This time, a trio of high school students (Belissa Escobedo, Whitney Peak, and Lilia Buckingham) to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem.

As for the next iteration of the SATC universe, we are happy to report that John Corbett will be returning as the dreamy Aiden Shaw. According to those in the know, the hunky woodworker will be getting substantial screen time. Yay! Hopefully Carrie Bradshaw will have grown enough to deserve him by now. Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Sara Ramirez have also been confirmed for the second season.

Sharpshooter
East Hampton’s Hugh Jackman is also keeping himself extremely busy these days. He recently confirmed that he will be joining his pal, Ryan Reynolds, onscreen in Deadpool 3, which will be released in 2024. That’s fun! We’re looking forward to seeing old Logan/Wolverine, again our favorite Marvel series.

Next up for Jackman will be the animated series Koala Man with Succession’s Sarah Snook and Michael Cusack. He’s also currently filming the feature film Faraway Downs with fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman

Shotgun Start
Water Mill’s Jennifer Lopez leads an amazing cast full of what look to be some pretty unexpected twists and turns down the aisle in the upcoming Shotgun Wedding. Part rom-com, part action adventure, we’re guessing this fun romp will be anything but familiar territory.

The film stars Lopez, Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Coolidge, Lenny Kravitz, Sonia Braga, Cheech Marin and D’Arcy Carden. We certainly say “I do” to this one!

Starring Turn
Speaking of offbeat romantic comedies, it’s so awesome to see Amagansett’s Alessandro Nivola in a leading role. Check him out in Spin Me Round on AMC+ with Alison Brie

The cheeky feature pairs Nivola as a wealthy restaurant chain owner and Brie as a Tuscan Grove cook who wins an all-expenses trip to Italy for the company’s educational immersion program. All is not as it seems for Brie, who had hoped for a romantic getaway with a dashing millionaire but ends up in quite the messy bowl of spaghetti.

Got Goosebumps
Guess what? Disney+ is getting ready to shoot a new television series based on Sag Harbor-based R.L. Stine’s popular Goosebumps books. Filming began in October in Vancouver and the series should start streaming in late 2023.

The action will focus on a group of high school students who accidentally unleash supernatural forces on their town. No word yet on who has been cast. Hopefully we won’t be too scared to see it.

Homecoming Party
Currently wowing the crowds on the film festival circuit is Steven Spielberg’s very personal film, The Fabelmans, which will hit theaters in November. The feature, co-written by the East Hampton resident and Tony Kushner, stars Michelle Williams, Gabriel LaBelle and Paul Dano

The poignant tale is loosely based on Spielberg’s own family’s somewhat turbulent times, which led him to seek solace in the world of movies. Get out the popcorn!
