Consider a second residence in overlooked Quivira Los Cabos

Quivira Los Cabos, an enclave that remains still undiscovered, is experiencing a renaissance. With new buildings cropping up, providing unfettered access to the Mexican destination’s best beaches, the area is ripe for visiting — and buying. 

What makes Quivira Los Cabos the next big Mexican thing? Or, specifically, what makes it different from other areas in Pacific Mexico? The area is home to Cabo’s most desirable golf course, the Quivira Course, which overlooks the moody Pacific Ocean. The club, which opened in 2014, features 7,085 yards of course, and has been voted one of the world’s top courses by Golf Digest. At the time of its opening, the course was named the Best New International Golf Course by Golf Magazine, and the Development of the Year by Golf Inc. 

New developments are taking note. Next year, the Olarena Hospitality Group, in partnership with tourism expert Ernesto Coppell, will launch The Residences at St. Regis Los Cabos, one of the only residences in Mexico’s Los Cabos with direct beach access. The residences are located, specifically, in Quivira Los Cabos, one of the area’s only luxury residential communities that still retains its untouched beachfront. 

New builds, like The St. Regis, are cropping up in this area, with opportunities for vacationers and investors to acquire beachfront real estate for a relatively low barrier to entry. The St. Regis’ oceanfront villas will range in size from 6,845 to 7,276 square feet and will feature walls of glass, shaded terraces, outdoor kitchens, infinity-edge pools, and 60 feet of private beachfront. 

Quivira will also welcome other luxury residences this year and next, like The Old Lighthouse Club and Alvar by Quivira Los Cabos. The former is a gated community with countless amenities, and the latter is a contemporary private community consisting of seven buildings in one-, two-, and three-level low-rise towers. The three- and four-bedroom apartments at Alvar by Quivira Los Cabos are spacious, beginning at 3,165 square feet. Developers, it seems, have recognized that the moment is right for Quivira, with increased demand for direct access to outdoor spaces and an entry point that remains affordable in the luxury class. 

Located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Quivira offers privacy as well as easy access — to the airport, to the shopping and dining downtown, and even to the eye-catching dunes and protective cliffs that define this part of Mexico. Unlike many of Cabo’s resort developments, Quivira is spared Highway 1, the bustling road that connects Los Cabos with San José del Cabo, an added bonus. 

Now, too, is a good time to invest. According to Cabo Real Estate Services, the second quarter 2021 inventory is up over 30 percent, with the average price declining 11 percent from the first quarter. Those opting to buy into new developments will have access to countless amenities, too, like concierge services, resort pools, dining venues, spas, fitness and wellness centers, and more. Located only a few miles from the international airport, Quivira is an easy fit for New Yorkers looking for a winter beach destination.
