Palm Beach Arts Scene

Palm Beach’s natural environment is one of its main draws, but its collection of manmade masterpieces displayed in galleries clustered mainly around Worth Avenue (almost) outshines even its most sun-drenched days. Here, we take a look at three top galleries on the island.

Wally Findlay Galleries
A gallery sporting a three-century legacy located a four-minute walk from the beach? Only in Palm Beach. With its Worth Avenue location dating back to 1961, it’s practically an institution on the island, and sets the standard of excellence in Palm Beach’s fine art community. Through the decades and with the changing times, the gallery has represented various schools of art, but specialties include French Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and European and American contemporary art. Go now to marvel at the masterful treatment of color by contemporary artists like Ronnie Landfield, Ptolemy Mann, and Charles Neal.

Aktion Art
There’s perhaps nowhere in Palm Beach more emblematic of the migration of Cool Kids from New York than Aktion Art, located in The Esplanade on Worth Avenue. Opened by Nick Hissom and Kameron Ramirez, two twenty-somethings who pandemic-pivoted from careers in music and film to fine art, Aktion Art is an international art gallery at the cusp of what’s coming.

Kameron Ramirez and Nick Hissom

“Palm Beach has exploded in recent times since COVID,” Hissom says. “We’ve seen a huge influx of dynamic galleries and collectors of all ages that are creating a fresh new face for art here. Kameron and I are so excited to be a part of it. … Helping to curate the neighborhood has been an incredible project so far.”

The contemporary approach at this full-service art gallery, advisory, and dealership is unlike anything else on the island.

Samuel Owen Gallery
Another millennial-helmed, can’t-miss art haven on the island is Samuel Owen Gallery, located on buzzy Royal Poinciana Way. With locations in Greenwich, Nantucket and Boston, the name may be familiar, but the Palm Beach display (0pened by Devon McCready) of international contemporary and modern art by established and mid-career artists is something special, capturing both the spirit of the island and the zeitgeist of our times. Go to peruse original paintings, sculptures, mixed media, and limited-edition prints.
