Espirt Founder’s Hamptons Home Sells for $5M in Sag Harbor

Jürgen Friedrich, a fashion designer and founder of Esprit, has just sold his Sag Harbor Dutch gambrel at 31 Howard Street for $4.75 million, reports the Real Deal.

Friedrich and his wife Anke purchased the 1843 home back in 2014 for $1.35 million and renovated it top to bottom. When they put the 0.35-acre property back on the market, they were originally asking $5.95 million, but eventually that asking price went down to $5 million.

After renovating the interior, the structure now spans 4,600 square feet with three bedrooms and three and a half baths. Features include wood floors throughout, a wide open kitchen with a farmhouse sink, and a fireplace in the living room. They also added a pool and a pool house out back. Located at 31 Howard Street, the property is conveniently located near village shops and restaurants.

The couple is still trying to sell their other Sag Harbor home, though. What is believed to be the Summer White House of late former president Chester A. Arthur, 20 Union Street dates back to 1796 and is currently on the market for $13.5 million. The couple purchased the home for $3.5 million in 2014 and have extensively renovated the 18th century structure.

Douglas Elliman agents Rima Mardoyan Smyth and Ryan Struble represent both listings. Corcoran Group agent Susan Breitenbach also had the Howard Street listing.
