Part of Billy Joel’s Hamptons House was Recently Demolished

Last week, famed Long Island musician Billy Joel had a part of his iconic Hamptons retreat in Sag Harbor demolished in preparation for renovations being done on the property. According to the Daily Mail, renovations will entail bringing the two homes on the compound together, second-floor additions, and bringing one of the homes up about 30 feet in elevation.

After about two years of attempting to get the renovations approved by the town board, the singer-songwriter was granted permission last September.

Located on Bay Street, the shingled home was originally built in the 18th century and has since been updated. It’s known for its buoys hanging off the side of the home. Joel purchased the home for $1.85 million back in 2002 under a limited liability company, providing many a photo-op. Features include four bedrooms, four bathrooms, an elevator, and a music room.
